New in Nailpolishes

Whenever I'm in Boots or Superdrug I cant help but get attracted to the nail polish section. I honestly don't think I've ever actually finished a bottle but I always want more! So when I was in Superdrug the other day I saw these MUA nail varnishes for £1, I've tried one of their eyeshadow palettes before and it's one of my favourites so I thought I'd pick up a few colours just to try them out. I will admit they do take quite a few coats and the formula seems to be a bit too watery for my liking, but for a pound I wasn't expecting anything incredible. The colours are nice and they do have a good selection of colours to pick from so I would probably get some more in the future

I decided to get 3 colours, Leapfrog, Bullet and Truffle Cream. Leapfrog has been my favourite so far, it's just a really nice green without being too bright or too dark. I would say Bullet is the one that requires the most coats which is disappointing because I thought it would have been better than it was!

What's On My Bedside Table

I feel like what a person has beside their bed can say a lot about them and I'm nosey when it comes to this thing so thought other people may be too and have put together this little post about what I have beside my bed!

My eyesight is horrible and I've started to depend on my glasses to see the tv properly so they are always near me! And I got this diary from paperchase when I started college just to keep track of everything going on, I jot down any blog posts I have when I'm out in here as well so it's normally beside me so I can read my ideas and start drafts on some posts!

This L'Oreal micellar water is my favourite out of all the different brands out there, it doesn't sting my eyes and does the job perfectly. This is my 5th repurchase and there will definitely be more to come!

I bought this Vaseline moisturiser just because I had ran out and needed some quick so picked it up while I was in Tesco. It smells really nice but I always want to try new moisturisers so I'll probably not repurchase this one purely because I get bored with the one moisturiser!

I love the soap and glory hand cream, it smells lovely and I always try and keep it beside the bed so that on my way out I can just grab it - there is nothing worse than dry hands in winter!

This Sally Hansen Maximum Strength is my best friend right now, acrylics are all nice looking when they're on but after they're off my nails are stubby and weak so I've been using this twice a day in hopes to have some nice nails back!

Victoria secret is still a treat to me as there isn't one in Scotland yet, so when my friend went to America I made sure she got me some of the spray because it smells amazing and this size is really great for keeping in your bag or if you're travelling!

For someone who constantly complains about her skin being bad, I'm not so good with sticking to the whole routine at night but having this moisturiser and overnight serum gives me a helpful reminder!

I bought this candle last year at the Christmas market and although it doesn't come across in the picture its quite see through meaning when you've lit a candle inside all the little houses glow and I just think its so cute and wintery!

What are the essentials that you like to have on your bedside table?

My Little Cosy Box

So beauty boxes have obviously been around for ages but I've never really got on board with it until a couple of months ago when I heard about My Little Box. It's a French company who have recently started shipping to the UK and I thought it was a really nice idea to have a different themed box each month with beauty, fashion and/or lifestyle products inside as well as their magazine.

Since I've really liked my first box I've decided I'll maybe do a monthly post on what I in them and just do a little review!

The box comes really nicely wrapped and underneath this little quote was the magazine which gives you a few really good recipes - I was so excited to see one for banana bread! It also has make-up, hair and nail art tips, DIY's and Fashion inspiration.

The first thing I picked out was this little box with a coffee cup which is probably perfect size for espresso. Unfortunately I'm not cool enough to be a coffee lover but this little cup is so cute that I'll definitely be finding a use for it!

The next thing was this little red and white pillow that you can heat up in the microwave to keep you warm. I love these things, I think they're so cute and for someone who's always cold it's such a good alternative to hot water bottles if you're just looking for something quick because it literally takes about 30 seconds in the microwave!

The last thing in this months box was a few beauty products. It came in a really cute little pouch and inside was Volume and Care Mascara  Starliner black waterproof eyeliner and Yves Rocher Intense Colour Eyeshadow. I'm actually really excited to try both of these especially as there's a little tutorial on how best to use all of these together to make a really nice smokey eye!

Quick Slimming-ish Pizza!

One of my main problems in life is that I want to lose weight but..I really love pizza. A while back I tried Slimming World which worked until I went on holiday and then I kinda lost it, but while I was there I found a really good recipe for a pizza base!

Literally all you'll need is
  • 125g strong bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • a 7g sachet of instant yeast (you can buy a little box in tesco of this amount)
  • 75ml of warm water
  • Mozzarella cheese & toppings of your choice!

Measure out the flour and pour it in the bowl with the little satchet of yeast and give it a quick mix then make a little dip in the flour and pour the 75ml of water. The recipe says to use a wooden spoon to mix these together but I prefer to use my hands and just gradually scoop it all into a ball!

Once you do this just sprinkle a little flour onto a chopping board and start to roll it out into the shape and thickness you want. For some reason I can never get a perfect circle but it's ok because it's just for me!

Obviously the toppings is up to you and your preferences. I didn't have too much in the house to put on my pizza as I just decided to have this for lunch at the last minute! So I went for just some sweetcorn, chicken and obviously the mozzarella and tomato pasata for the base.

This is the not very appetising looking result - getting food to look nice just isn't my strong point! So you just pop this in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 180 and you're ready to eat!

If you have the ingredients this is so quick to make and it's so good as well. Let me know if any of you try it!

What's On My Nails

Plume from Topshop is a nail polish I picked up nearly a year ago but I've not gave it a second look until now. It's a gorgeous colour that in certain lights can change from purple to blue and it has tiny bits of glitter throughout it!

I will say that this needs about 3 coats for it to be a true representation of the colour in the bottle but I think it's time well spent. It's also a nice change from all the berry, green and gold colours that are around at this time of the year.

I was going to take a picture of the colour on my nails but they're extremely short and stubby after having acrylics so none of the pictures came out particularly nice - next time though!

Liebster Award

The lovely Kirsten from Letters from Marion has nominated me for a Liebster Award, this is also the first tag post I've done so I was so excited!

All you have to do is:
  • Answer the questions that you were nominated to
  • Nominate 11 bloggers, who have under 200 followers on Twitter
  • Think up of another 11 questions for them to answer!

1 - If you could only shop in one High Street shop for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I think I would pick H&M, I think their stuff is lovely, good quality and for the most part quite cheap. Obviously I love Topshop but lately I've just not been finding stuff I love from there!

2 - What one designer item is on your if-I-won-the-lottery list?
100% a YSL clutch, I've had my eye on one for a while but I think for a while it'll just have to be a dream

3 - What's your beauty bargain item in your skincare regime?
I think probably my body shop cleansing oil, it does the job perfectly and you don't have to spend a ton of money on it!

4 - What's your one all time favourite item of clothing that you've had for years and will never throw away and why do you love it so much?
Probably a Christmas jumper I bought years ago that should probably never be worn in public because it's a bit over the top but it's so cosy and comfy that I think I'll always keep it!

5 - Describe your ideal weekend?
Probably going out for some breakfast (preferably pancakes) followed by a bit of shopping and then returning home to a roast dinner and being cosy watching movies!

6 - If you could swap your wardrobe with anyone in the world who would it be and why?
Either Emma Stone because she just looks good in everything she wears or Blake Lively because she knows how to dress for a red carpet!

7 - What made you want to start a blog?
I've always loved reading other people's and I thought it would be nice to have a little area where I could talk about beauty and fashion endlessly and I'd be able to talk to people who have the same interests as me!

8 - What's your favourite season for fashion and why?
Autumn definitely, I love coats, boots, jumpers, scarves and just everything that comes with the weather getting colder! I also really like the darker colours, I feel like I don't suit all the bright and pastel colours that come with spring and summer.

9 - A festive one! What's your favourite stocking fillers?
Terry's chocolate orange, they top all other Christmas chocolate for me and Christmas jet wouldn't be the same without it!

10 - What are your everyday make-up essentials?
I've done a blog post on this which you can go and check out but in short, nars sheer glow foundation, soap and glory mascara, a liquid eyeliner (right now it's maybelline) and some form of lipstick!

11 - What part of blogging makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and just generally pleased with yourself?
I've been really enjoying talking to people on Twitter which is a part I wasn't sure about to begin with but its so nice to be part of a community where people are willing to help you out, give advice or just chat to you! Also hearing that someone has enjoyed your blog post is really nice!

I found it so hard to find people with under 200 followers that hadn't already been nominated so I am cheating a bit but I am going to nominate:

And your questions are:

1 - What are your top 3 favourite blogs?
2 - The one make-up beauty product you cant live without?
3 - Whats your fvourite nail polish colour to have on your nails?
4 - Favourite trend of Autumn/Winter this year?
5 - What are your favourite Christmas films?
6 - Best and worst part about blogging?
7 - What are your staples when you're having a pamper night?
8 -  If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
9 - What's the most expensive beauty/fashion item that you own?
10 - What gives you inspiration for blog ideas?
11 - What is your favourite makeup brand?

Mini Haul

Over the past couple of weeks I've been treating myself so I thought I'd do a mini haul and share some of my purchases!

First of all I got 'Yes Please' by Amy Poehler. Over the summer I read Mindy Kaling and Tina Fey's books and loved them so I was so excited to hear that Amy had one out too! Although my expectations of this book are high, I think it'll live up to them and I can't wait to start reading it

Next is this Sleek Sunset palette, I've been looking for something with really nice golden and cranberry/berry colours and this is perfect! I'll definitely be getting wear out of all of these shades apart from maybe the blue one. I don't think the blue fits in with the rest of the palette but the other 11 shades are gorgeous! It was my first sleek purchase but I already know I'll be buying more, the packaging is great, I love the big mirror and the product is lovely!

Top row.                                                                                               Bottom row
To go along with my Sleek palette I thought I'd buy myself some new brushes so when I was in Boots I picked up this EcoTools Duo Brush Set. I think the fact you get four different brush types for just £6.99 is a bargain, it's pretty much everything you need to get the perfect look. This set comes with a Smudge, Blend, Define and Shade brush and I think they're such good quality as well

I know I've featured the Sephora eye liner recently but it just wasn't doing it for me and honestly I went to open it the other morning and it broke so what better excuse to try out a new eyeliner?! I went for the Maybelline Master Precise Liner, it's a really thin brush which I quite like as I seem to have more control over it and if I want to go thicker I can, so far so good for this eyeliner!

I also wanted to treat myself to some festive nail polish and this Barry M one is perfect. It's a lovely red colour and so glittery, I used it with a top coat and it I found that it makes it nice and smooth because I hate when glitter nail polish is all bumpy feeling!

Festive Candle Wishlist

Candles are something I always want more of round about this time of the year. There is nothing better than coming in from the cold to a cosy, relaxing room with lots of candles lit!

Some candles I'm wanting to buy in the coming weeks are from Yankee Candle they always have nice scents that last for ages. Snow in love and Sugared Apple are two that caught my attention purely for the name and ive heard only good things about Red Apple Wreath so I really want to get my hands on that!

I've also recently heard of a brand called Woodwick, which 'cackles as it burns' according to their tagline! I personally love the sound of wood crackling in a fire so I thought this sounded really interesting so I'll definitely be looking into their scents more and trying one out soon.

What are some candles you're buying this winter?

Winter Accessories

It's well into November now and it's starting to get cold especially in Scotland, so I've put together a few pieces that are essential to me when the weather starts getting colder. Starting off with some of my scarf collection, I tend to go for the obvious winter colours and obviously some tartan! I don't feel like a scarf is just a winter accessory though I tend to wear a thinner material during the rest of the year, I think they can be such a nice addition to an outfit

The next thing I can't really live without are slippers, I hate having cold feet or having to walk about the house in the morning on a cold floor! These little giraffe ones are from Boux avenue and were my favourite until I spotted these while doing the food shopping in Tesco and not only are they festive but they have a cosy fleecy lining!

I got a hat last year from Accessorize and its nothing really special but I love the colour and the fit of it when I wear it and it keeps me nice and warm. (I tried so hard to get a good picture but it just wasn't working out so you'll just have to take my word for it!) The only problem with hats is that if I want to wear my hair up, I can't wear a hat without looking completely bald so I invested in this little headband from H&M, It's come in handy so far and makes me look a little more normal than if I wore my hat!

As someone who is almost always cold for the majority of the year, a dressing gown is a must for me, This is one I got from Topshop last year. It has a nice lining but I do find it quite thin some I have my eye on a thicker one that I'm hoping to get my hands on soon!

Gloves are the one thing missing from my list just now, for some reason I can never seem to keep hold of a pair for longer than a couple of months. And as much as my hands get cold sometimes they're such a pain if I'm walking to college or out with the dogs listening to music and I have to keep taking them off one hand to change the song or if I want to text!

What are some winter accessories you can't live without?
